Summary:

Annual wage: £11,778 – £19,047.60 (may increase after probation).
Training course: Early Years Lead Practitioner (Level 5, equivalent to Higher National Diploma).
Hours: 30 hours/week (shifts between 7:15 am – 5:45 pm).

Work:
Gain practical experience while developing leadership skills in early years practice.
Key responsibilities:
- Follow EYFS, Teacher Standards (Early Years), and preschool policies.
- Oversee day-to-day preschool operations and deliver high-quality care.
- Ensure a safe, stimulating environment indoors & outdoors.
- Act as a key person for a small group of children and liaise with parents/carers.
- Identify and report safeguarding concerns.
- Support and teach children with appropriate stimulation.
- Attend staff meetings, training, and in-service courses.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.
- Work with external agencies and the committee on self-evaluation and improvement.
- Undertake reasonable duties aligned with the preschool’s aims.
- Support the wraparound service and ensure a clean, safe, stimulating environment.
Location: Hatchell Wood Primary School, Plumpton Park Road, Bessacarr, Doncaster, DN4 6SL.
Training:
Training is provided by Total Training Provision Limited, with at least 20% of working hours spent on off-the-job learning, including:
- E-learning, projects, and employer-led development.
- One-to-one coaching and masterclasses.
- Portfolio building and final assessment.
- Functional skills in English & Maths if needed.
The programme develops confident leaders ready for senior early years roles.
Requirements:
This apprenticeship is only open to candidates who meet the essential requirements below:
Essential qualifications & experience:
- Level 3 Childcare Qualification or above.
- Level 3 Safeguarding Certificate.
- Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
- Grade 4 (or equivalent) in Maths & English.
- Passing a DBS check.
- At least 12 months working within a setting.
Other essential skills & attributes:
Communication, IT, attention to detail, organisation, teamwork, creativity, initiative, patience, non-judgemental approach.
